A Festive Step by Step with Meloney Lewis

Hi, Meloney here from the Design Team and you may want to get a cuppa and get comfy to read the blog as I may be awhile lol.

I am sharing with you how I created a Stunning Christmas Card using the fantastic Drawing Guides and if you've been following Pretty Gets Gritty for awhile you'll know that I have loved them from the moment they came into production. But I best not get started on how versatile they are and how I go back to them time and time again. They are amazing x

So to create this card I've used two of the Drawing Guides, Gritty Geo and Gritty Ogon, the Snowfall Stencil, Magical Christmas Stamps. The inks that I've used are Versafine Clair in Morning Mist, Nocturne and Villainous Potion Distress Oxide. I also used a Silver Gel pen, Grey Alcohol marker and of course my Micron Pen size 0.2.

Lets Get Into It!

To start off, I've cut a piece of Dolly Dimples Mixed Media card into just under a 6" square.

I placed the Moon into the position I wanted on the card and using some washy tape stuck it to the glass mat. I Gently put the Snowfall stencil underneath and inked through with the distress oxide.

Then carefully removed the Snowfall stencil so as to not move the Moon. Using the micron pen, I drew in the outline of the moon.

Then using the smaller oval from the Gritty Ogon drawing guide. I placed it in the centre on the bottom of the Moon. I Inked up one of the small snowflakes in Morning Mist and hovered over the top so that the oval ran though the centre of the snowflake. I Pushed the Drawing Guide out the way and then stamped.

I Brought back in the Drawing guide and drew in the outline. Then repeated the process two more times.

On the verse stamp from the Magical Christmas Stamp Set there is a teeny tiny snowflake that I have cut of (it's ok haven't damaged the stamp). I inked it up with the morning mist and then leaving a gap lined it up underneath the larger ones.

Now the fun part, adding the dots from the Gritty Geo Drawing Guide. I also stamped out the sentiment from the stamp set straight onto the card.

Once I'd done that, I added more detail with the Grey Alcohol Marker and Silver Gel Pen.

Next, I cut a frame out of some of the Christmas Paper Kit. I stuck on the design, trimmed down the card and inked the edges with the Distress Oxide. Then stuck it onto a 6 by 6 cardblank and added some Luna Pretty Sparkles.

This design works in so many ways just by giving it a few tweaks for example, stamping through the Moon, Stamping on the edge so it looks as if the Moon is part of the stamp. And every time you create this design it will look different just by choosing different stamp.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to read the Blog and I really hope this has inspired you to create and play with these fantastic Drawing Guides x
